Anna & Brian 4/28/13 – A Magical Night…

I am very happy every time I see that I will be working at The Palace in Somerset, my favorite place to work. Anna and Brian had a cool idea for introductions. It was a movie theme so the parents came out to the Star Wars theme, Wedding Party came out to the Indiana Jones theme, and then Anna and Brian came down the beautiful staircase to 2001 Space odyssey theme song. As soon as they hit the dance floor they wanted us to play Thunderstruck by ACDC as they walked through the arch.
Anna and Brian had Elite Video Productions to capture all the great moments and also had a PhotoBooth by Elite which is always a big hit. Fun party and great people. Anna picked out every song and her music list was perfect.  We started with a traditional Italian dance set and that broke the ice and set the party up for the rest of the night.  Another amazing night. Anna and Brian posted a very nice review on WeddingWire a week later saying that I provided her with a magical night.   Another big reason why I love this job.

Kate & Mike 4/27/13 – “DJ’s Of The Year!”

Myself and Craig had an amazing time with this group. The wedding was at a place called The Stateroom in Ship Bottom which is a very cool place in LBI.
Cool vibe and the staff was great.  The staff at The Stateroom and the bride and groom, Kate and Mike, wanted to have all the courses and dinner out and done before we even opened up the dance floor which means we had a full 2 hours to dance straight through till the end. So we hit them with everything we had and wow did they dance! Not one slow song (bride and grooms request) and 99 percent of Kate and Mike’s guests were on the dance floor.  At one point we played Party Rock Anthem, Sexy and I Know It, Gangnam Style and then the Harlem Shake (all which were Kate’s requests) all in a row and the people lost their minds. The sweat that came off the guests dancing was pretty funny.
At the end of the night we handed out a ton of cards and the staff at the State Room took a bunch of cards too. It felt great when the staff said that was the best time we ever had working at a wedding. One waiter came up to us and said “wow, best DJ’s of the year!!”   About a week later Katie and Mike posted an awesome review on us on WeddingWire.

4/19/13 – Keep the place standing!

I worked Kim and Scotts wedding at McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch and Mike Walter, my “boss”, worked there the next day. The Thursday before he told me to keep the place standing so I did the best I could.  We had such a blast partying with Kim and Scott. There is nothing better than working a wedding when it’s your referral because everybody knows what to expect… a slammin party from me (haha).  Everyone danced from start to finish. Instead of the traditional sit down dinner, Kim and Scott wanted McLoone’s to set up cocktail stations around the room to keep open all night. This way people can eat when they want and dance when they want. No sitting down. We kept it upbeat most of the time with only a couple slow songs. The music Kim and Scott wanted was great. They loved the 80′s sing a long stuff and wanted a ton of old school club and hip hop. A bunch of people came up to us at the end of the night to grab business cards from us, so I hope to party with this group again soon.  So, Mike Walter, I think I kept the place standing for ya.

Jessica & Tristan – April 6. 2013

Small group in a big room. We were in the big room (Janine’s room) at the Crystal Point in Point Pleasant.  As always the wedding was perfect with Jeanine running the show and the staff doing an amazing job. It was a smaller wedding with a huge dance floor which sometimes can be a challenge, but not with this group. Jessica and Tristan’s guests were ready to party. Right from the start, before the party began, only the wedding party were hanging out in the room. We did a sound check and my assistant Rob Habermann played a TLC song.  Next thing you know, the members of the wedding party were dancing around and acting wild. That is always a great sign of a good party. That’s exactly what happened. The dance floor was packed all night with a huge mix of music. If there is one thing I know from doing this so many years is that if you have a Bride and Groom, along with their  wedding party, dancing all night, all the guests will join in on the fun.

Christina & Eddie 2-16-13

What a awesome night at one of our favorite places to work.  The Rosewood in Edison is always a great place with very good food and a friendly staff.
From beginning to end what a great wedding for Christina and Eddie.  Not only was Elite Entertainment there ready to party we also had Davide Fuoco from Elite Photo Booths there with all his energy and enthusiasm to add to the party. As a matter of fact when we played Cotton Eyed Joe he jumped on the dance floor to help show the dance (since I know it’s one of his favorite songs to dance to.)   On top of that we had the pleasure of working with John from Galis Photography, one of the nicest guys in the business.
The entire night was a blast. Myself and Rob Haberman rocked the crowd and danced non stop.  There were only children in the wedding party which made it a lot of fun when we introduced them to Party Rock Anthem as they danced into the room.  Thanks again to Christina & Eddie for a night full of fun and dancing.

Nina & James – January 4th, 2013 at the Versailles Ballroom

Here’s the story of Nina (now Thompson) and her husband James!

IMG_0879-EditWow! What a way to begin the new year!  It was January 4th 2013 Nina and her fiancé James arrived at the Versailles Ballroom (of The Ramada in Toms River) overjoyed to be getting married.  And how could they not be? They had Elite Video, Elite Digital Images and Yours Truly as their Elite Entertainer on the scene to create new memories!  Adding to the fun was an Elite Photobooth (and Elite’s purple uplighting surrounded the room).
To open the festivities I played “Don’t Stop The Party” by Pitbull as their recessional (to end the ceremony)! The bridal party and guests danced their way into cocktail hour!
Being a younger crowd, the parents and bridal party then were introduced into their reception to “Let’s Go” by Calvin Harris ft. Ne-Yo! After which i quieted the crowd and dropped “We Found Love” by Rihanna for Nina & James!  Of course the bridal party was into it so we let the song play and they all danced, half filling the floor for a few minutes more!
The first dance (“I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz) and parent dances (“I Loved Her First” by Heartland, and “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts) went wonderfully.
IMG_1022Soon it was party time and the dance floor was packed! There were a few audience songs (Cupid Shuffle and the Wobble), but mostly it was dance/pop music with not much in the way of oldies! There was some latin music as well, “Que Precio Tiene El Cielo” by Marc Anthony (salsa) and “Suavemente” by Elvis Crespo (merengue).
We had to take a little break from dancing so that James could try to shove cake into Nina’s face! There was a jump fest for the bouquet! James did a mock strip tease for the garter and then tossed it to the boys! The garter made its way up another young lady’s leg before it was party time again!
Nina and James, along with family and friends, partied the rest of the night away before they had to say good night and good bye (due to James’ enlistment and subsequent assignment on the west coast)!

Why I loved DJing this Event……

  • This was my first wedding after the storm (others had been postponed), so I was eager to help people have a good time and forget at least for a few hours about the issues everyone was having.
  • Brooke & Chris had to change venues due to flooding in their original Banquet Hall, but they were able to keep the date, notify all their guests, and make the Wedding a success.
  • All the guests were ready to have fun, and showed up ready to eat, drink, dance, and be merry.
  • As the pictures show, Brooke & Chris personalized the Banquet room, with pictures, plaques, and other great decorations to bring the room to life for their Wedding.
  • The dance floor stayed packed all night and everyone enjoyed themselves to the fullest.

The Calm Before The Storm…sort of…

It took a while for me to write these blogs since they happened the weekend before Sandy hit…. But it was such a fun weekend as far as Weddings go that I didn’t want to leave them out…

  • Everyone was in such a great mood for the wedding, it was really a fun night.  People were eating, drinking, and dancing all night, which is exactly what I love about DJing….
  • I was able to work with a new Music Mixer from Elite,  Michael Gallo, who was a pleasure to work with.
  • The Channel Club is a great venue, amazing food, perfect location (10 minutes from my house) and right on the Marina… The staff there is great as well, I can’t wait to work there again.  They had some flooding during the storm, so I hope all is well soon.
  • Jen & Jeff’s music requests were all great.  Fun popular music in many different genres.  They wanted a fun atmosphere and lot’s of dancing which is what happened.

Amber & Chad – Hunter Mountain, NY 9/15/12

Congratulations to Amber & Chad on getting married!  We had such a great time Djing their Ceremony, Reception, & After Party.  We also had the unique experience of Djing on the top of a Mountain (Hunter Mountain, NY).

The day kicked off with guests taking the ski-lift up to the top of Hunter mountain where we were treated to a beautiful view of the Catskills (At approximately 4,040 feet in elevation, it is the second-highest peak in the Catskill Mountains.)  I can say it was my 1st time having to ride a ski lift to get to DJ a Ceremony.  Amber & Chad also brought with them some sand from Long Branch, NJ where they 1st met on the beach. They spread the sand out at the spot of their vows so they could have a bit of their 1st date with them on their Wedding day.  They also incorporated the Love Letter and Wine Box Ceremony into their Wedding which was very special.

After the Ceremony the guests took the ski lift back down the mountain to the Coppertree Restaurant where we would have the Cocktail Hour followed by the Reception.  To help with an already fun wedding, we had a Photo Montage which played throughout the night as well as Intelligent lighting.  The Introductions, 1st dance, Parents dances, and toasts (great job Jaclyn!!) all added fun and some tears to the Wedding.  The guests danced the night away to new and old hits and since almost everyone was staying at the Lodge, no one left until the last song.

The night was not over though, a shuttle took the guests to the Lodge where we kicked off the After Party.  There was a Bar, Food, outside Fire Pit, Cigars, and of course Music.  We played new hits, Hip Hop, Pop, R&B, Rock, all fun drinking and party music until early in the Sunday A.M.

In all it was an amazing and unique event which was helped by a very fun Bridal Party and Bride & Groom.  A big shout out goes to Amber & Chad (Bride & Groom), Dennis & Lynn (Parents of the Bride), John & Bonnie (Parents of the Groom) and the entire Bridal Party: Jaclyn, Justina, Victoria, Jillian, Amanda, Danielle B., Danielle P., Kevin, Casey, Cory, Marc, Tim, Kevin, Devin, & Tom!
