Nina & James – January 4th, 2013 at the Versailles Ballroom

Here’s the story of Nina (now Thompson) and her husband James!

IMG_0879-EditWow! What a way to begin the new year!  It was January 4th 2013 Nina and her fiancé James arrived at the Versailles Ballroom (of The Ramada in Toms River) overjoyed to be getting married.  And how could they not be? They had Elite Video, Elite Digital Images and Yours Truly as their Elite Entertainer on the scene to create new memories!  Adding to the fun was an Elite Photobooth (and Elite’s purple uplighting surrounded the room).
To open the festivities I played “Don’t Stop The Party” by Pitbull as their recessional (to end the ceremony)! The bridal party and guests danced their way into cocktail hour!
Being a younger crowd, the parents and bridal party then were introduced into their reception to “Let’s Go” by Calvin Harris ft. Ne-Yo! After which i quieted the crowd and dropped “We Found Love” by Rihanna for Nina & James!  Of course the bridal party was into it so we let the song play and they all danced, half filling the floor for a few minutes more!
The first dance (“I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz) and parent dances (“I Loved Her First” by Heartland, and “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts) went wonderfully.
IMG_1022Soon it was party time and the dance floor was packed! There were a few audience songs (Cupid Shuffle and the Wobble), but mostly it was dance/pop music with not much in the way of oldies! There was some latin music as well, “Que Precio Tiene El Cielo” by Marc Anthony (salsa) and “Suavemente” by Elvis Crespo (merengue).
We had to take a little break from dancing so that James could try to shove cake into Nina’s face! There was a jump fest for the bouquet! James did a mock strip tease for the garter and then tossed it to the boys! The garter made its way up another young lady’s leg before it was party time again!
Nina and James, along with family and friends, partied the rest of the night away before they had to say good night and good bye (due to James’ enlistment and subsequent assignment on the west coast)!

Amber & Chad – Hunter Mountain, NY 9/15/12

Congratulations to Amber & Chad on getting married!  We had such a great time Djing their Ceremony, Reception, & After Party.  We also had the unique experience of Djing on the top of a Mountain (Hunter Mountain, NY).

The day kicked off with guests taking the ski-lift up to the top of Hunter mountain where we were treated to a beautiful view of the Catskills (At approximately 4,040 feet in elevation, it is the second-highest peak in the Catskill Mountains.)  I can say it was my 1st time having to ride a ski lift to get to DJ a Ceremony.  Amber & Chad also brought with them some sand from Long Branch, NJ where they 1st met on the beach. They spread the sand out at the spot of their vows so they could have a bit of their 1st date with them on their Wedding day.  They also incorporated the Love Letter and Wine Box Ceremony into their Wedding which was very special.

After the Ceremony the guests took the ski lift back down the mountain to the Coppertree Restaurant where we would have the Cocktail Hour followed by the Reception.  To help with an already fun wedding, we had a Photo Montage which played throughout the night as well as Intelligent lighting.  The Introductions, 1st dance, Parents dances, and toasts (great job Jaclyn!!) all added fun and some tears to the Wedding.  The guests danced the night away to new and old hits and since almost everyone was staying at the Lodge, no one left until the last song.

The night was not over though, a shuttle took the guests to the Lodge where we kicked off the After Party.  There was a Bar, Food, outside Fire Pit, Cigars, and of course Music.  We played new hits, Hip Hop, Pop, R&B, Rock, all fun drinking and party music until early in the Sunday A.M.

In all it was an amazing and unique event which was helped by a very fun Bridal Party and Bride & Groom.  A big shout out goes to Amber & Chad (Bride & Groom), Dennis & Lynn (Parents of the Bride), John & Bonnie (Parents of the Groom) and the entire Bridal Party: Jaclyn, Justina, Victoria, Jillian, Amanda, Danielle B., Danielle P., Kevin, Casey, Cory, Marc, Tim, Kevin, Devin, & Tom!

Gina & Eric at The English Manor – June 9, 2012

I knew right from the beginning that this was a special couple and that it was going to be an amazing night! I’ve been working as a DJ/Emcee for 12 years now and I’ve done my fair share of weddings. Because I’ve met with so many couples over the years, I tend to notice when a bride/groom has the “It” factor. Gina & Eric are the couple that everyone can’t get enough of. Both super kind, funny, and just know how to have a great time. We had a great time alright!

Ceremony was held in the beautiful gardens behind English Manor. If you’ve never been to the English Manor I highly recommend you visit if you’re shopping for a venue. From the manicured grounds, the amazing dining and service, this one wedding house and its superb staff are a winner every time. Back to Eric & Gina, I never met these two in person. I took care of all their details on BrideLive.com. This made the planning process much more convenient and stress free since they lived over an hour from our offices.

My first time actually meeting them was while they walked back down the aisle as husband & wife. They both looked fantastic, gleaming smiles, while family & friends erupted in applause. You could feel the magic in the air and I knew from the pulse of the evening we were just getting started.
Everyone made their way to cocktail hour while Eric & Gina and the bridal party finished up photos in the gardens with AbellaStudios.com who also had their skilled videographers on hand. The Elite team moved inside where Dave from Elite Extreme was just putting the finishing touches on the intelligent lighting package. Man these lights are incredible! We can change the environment of the room at anytime.  Nicole and I on the other hand warmed up our singing voices to perform for dinner. I was very lucky to have Nicole on the event with me as she is an exceptional talent who can sing Adele to Aretha Franklin and everything in between. Together we can sing our butts off! It’s a real treat to work with her.

Introductions were crazy good with the Bridal Party dancing in to “All I Do is Win” and Eric & Gina charging into the room to some heavy beats. During their 1st dance everyone stood and watched as if William & Kate were dancing outside Kensington Palace. Again, magic was in the air! After the formalities, it didn’t take long for the dance floor to pack up and it literally stayed that way all night long!! One of the highlights of the evening was a surprise dedication to Gina from Eric. With his cousin singing backups, watch now, Eric busts out “Nothing on You” by B.O.B. This boy is a playa lol The whole place went crazy! Gina was mesmerized by his performance. It just about put the icing on top of what was already an amazing evening with these two and their friends & family. It was an honor to be there and I can tell you the Elite team had just as much fun as the guests did! Enjoy you lives together Gina & Eric!

3 Days of DJ Fun… 4/20 to 4/22

On this very fun weekend, I had the pleasure of Djing three completely different party’s.

  1. Friday, April 20th – Andrea’s Sweet 16 at the Rosewood in Edison, NJ
  2. Saturday, April 21st – Annemarie and Jeff’s Wedding at the Flanders Valley Country Club in Flanders, NJ
  3. Sunday, April 22nd – Kaylyn’s Communion Party at Yesterday’s in Hazlet, NJ

Each party was very unique and had some great highlights

4/20/2012 – Andrea’s Sweet 16:

We had great upgrades including a Photo Booth & Intelligent Lighting.  Plus we had the pleasure of a new music mixer, Steven Louissaint (who happens to be my brother).  The party was a lot of fun, Andrea had a great group of friends and family.  They danced and partied all night long.

She had a great list of songs for her Candles as well as some fun requests.  One of the funnier highlights was when she and two of the members of her court came out dressed as Teletubbies and danced to “House Party” by Meek Mill ft. Young Chris.  The Court also were dressed to the nines in matching Zebra print outfits…

A side note was that they were all from my High School “Sayreville War Memorial” – Go Bombers!!!

4/21/2012 – Annemarie & Jeffery Esposito’s Wedding:

It was a gorgeous Saturday and I got work with my brother again as well as David Friedman, which made for a fun afternoon/evening.  Annemarie & Jeff had picked out a lot of fun music and were ready for a great night. Some of the highlights included there 1st dance which they had choreographed to Life is a Happy Song from the Muppets (so much fun), the Tarantella which all both sets of Italian families loved, and dancing to the Whistleing Caruso (also from the Muppets).  We also wrapped a Conga Line around the room with Hawaiian Leis and Maracas in hand… We capped off the night to some fun new music and since most of the guests were staying at a nearby Hotel, the party continued on the Shuttles all the way to the Hotel Bar!

4/22/2012 – Kaylyn’s Communion Party:

It was an early morning heading over to Kaylyn’s Party, which after two great party’s already, I was psyched for this one.  As the family, friends, and of course the kids arrived, they were treated to all the fun props and giveaways including: Hats, Leis, Maracas & Sunglasses.  Once the party was in full gear, Melissa (Kaylyn’s mom) sang “One Moment in Time” as Kaylyn danced with her dad. Singing runs in the family, her Grandfather sang to her the song “Angel” as well.

Some of the popular dance requests were:

Club Can’t Handle Me – Flo Rida Feat. David Guetta

Sexy And I Know It – LMFAO

Starships – Nicki Minaj

Baby – Justin Bieber

The Grease Megamix: You’re the One – Grease (Soundtrack from the Motion… John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John)

Run The World (Girls) – Beyoncé

Better Days – Goo Goo Dolls

The Climb – Miley Cyrus

Cha Cha Slide – Mr. C

Low (feat. T-Pain) – Flo Rida

Moves Like Jagger – Maroon 5 f./Christina Aguilera

International Love – Pitbull Feat. Chris Brown

Nothin’ On You – B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray f Bruno Mars

Fire Burning – Sean Kingston

On The Floor – Jennifer Lopez

The Way I Are – Timbaland featuring Keri Hilson

It was definitely a great way to finish off the weekend…

An Amazing Wedding at The PNC Reception Center

Aimee & Rashard are a fantastic couple.  I met with them about a month ago and since then we have worked closely together, collaborating on their music list and the style of their wedding.  They also capitalized on a winter special we ran and got our photo booth at some great savings.  The photo booth was a huge hit of the night!

The PNC Reception Center's atrium is a beautiful place for a wedding ceremony

Since Aimee and Rashard were getting married onsite at the PNC Reception Center they hired us for the whole evening.  We provided ceremony music, a great jazz infused mix for cocktail hour and then of course the party music and lighting to ignite their celebration.  I particularly love being a part of a couple’s ceremony because, let’s face it, that is the most important moment of the day and when they get married in a church or temple I don’t have the opportunity to witness it.  Aimee and Rashard had personalized their wedding vows and hearing them really made me love this couple all the more.

Aimee had asked me to make an edit of Beyonce’s version of “Ave Maria” to walk down the aisle to.  I did that and sent it to her to practice.  She timed things out perfectly so just as her and her dad got to the top of the aisle Beyonce was finishing the song.  As they used to say on The A Team. “I love it when a plan comes together.”

Speaking of edits I had also made one for Aimee and Rashard’s introduction into the reception.  Aimee’s a Bon Jovi fan and she wanted his song “Raise Your Hands” for when I brought her and her new husband in.  I chopped that song up and rebuilt it so just as I was saying their names the chorus kicked in.  I’d also had all the guests gather round the dance floor (rather than just stand at their tables) and this was truly a highlight of the night.  With all their family and friends so close, Aimee and Rashard had me do two songs upfront.  Their wedding song was Billie Holiday’s version of “Come Rain or Come Shine” and then we invited everyone to join in for Michael Franti’s 2008 hit “Say Hey (I Love You).”  It’s always been my experience when you start a party off right it sets the tone for a great evening and this certainly did.

With a package that including our uplighting we rocked the party and made the room look awesome as well.

Rashard is from New

The uplighting and intelligent lights on the towers look so awesome

Orleans and he’d given me the names of a coupla real good Rebirth Brass Band songs.  We sprinkled these in throughout the night and also handed out Mardi Gras beads to add a little Cajun flair to the reception.

It was a great evening for all and I wish Aimee & Rashard a lifetime of health and happiness!

And the Winner Is . . .

We wrapped up our first quarter showcasing season last night with our very own Private Show at The Sheraton in Eatontown. We also did something we’ve never done before in the 22 year history of Elite Entertainment:  We gave one lucky bride an amazing, Elite Wedding.  The winner would receive not just a free DJ from Elite Entertainment but also a lighting package, a Photo Booth, Photography services from our sister company Elite Digital Images and videography services from our sister company Elite Video Productions.  This totaled over $7000.00 in free services for one lucky bride.

Our showcase was tight.  We’ve been performing pretty steadily since the beginning of the year, 16 bridal shows in all since our first one on January 8th. We had a packed dance floor for much of the interactive segment and every DJ who had mic time really shined.  In fact, the most consistent feedback we received from brides and grooms in attendance was something to the effect of: “we can’t decide who we want because you guys are all great!”

So then came the moment we were all waiting for.  We picked the winner of our biggest giveaway ever.  And as luck (or maybe fate) would have it, the winner was a lovely young woman named Nina whose fiance is serving in the Army in Afghanistan.  We couldn’t have been happier that she was the winner and we can’t wait for their July 2013 wedding.

Nina, our Lucky Winner took home over $7,000 in free services from us!

Stephanie & John 3-3-12 @ The Waters Edge in Sea Bright

The Water’s Edge rocked this past Saturday. Stephanie and John only had 100 people at the party, but there was 100 people on the dance floor all night. The day started out great with a smooth ceremony taking place in the main ballroom of the Waters Edge. Stephanie came down the aisle to the traditional “Here Comes The Bride” but as they were pronounced husband and wife John and Stephanie had us play “I Wanna Rock” by Twisted Sister. As soon as the opening vocal hit the place exploded into cheers!
Guests enjoyed an hour of cocktail and hors d’oeuvre’s downstairs and then returned to the main ball room for introductions. I began by introducing Stephanie’s grandparents at their table, followed by the parents of the bride and groom and the members of the bridal party. The room filled with cheers and laughter as each couple danced their way into the room and onto the dance floor. Finally we slowly faded out the music, I asked everyone to rise and as we pumped the music up again I introduced the brand new Mr & Mrs John Rose into a room of thunderous applause.
Once the party started it was easy! The team at Waters Edge did a great job, Jenelle Kappe captured the day, and we kept the floor moving with a great soundtrack.

February 17th, 2012 – Allison & Rob at Addison Park

I had the great pleasure of entertaining for Allison and Rob on their wedding day. They selected a great venue in Addison Park and we added some elegance and ambience to the room with uplighting. The day went off for them without a hitch!

They had a wonderful ceremony at Gethsamene Lutheran Church in Keyport and Allison got ready at the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank. The entire day was captured by Elite Digital Images, and the dynamic duo of Lynn and Carrie rocked it out. Their photos are beautiful, and I cannot wait to see their final album once it is designed!

Once they got to Addison Park, the party was on! A great cocktail hour followed by intros and the bride and groom’s first dance. Allison’s dance with her dad and Rob’s with his mom were both great heart felt moments. Jay, Rob’s best man, and Ali, Allison’s Maid of Honor, gave two AWESOME speeches that the crowd gave standing ovations.

As soon as I opened the dance floor I knew this event wasn’t going to be work. The entire crowd of just over 100 guests danced like Lionel Richie says, “All Night Long“. I hit the dance floor with everything… BeatlesBon JoviLMFAOPitbullJourneyAretha Franklin and they couldn’t get enough. Plus our bride and groom had some slow song dedications that took me back to middle school.

Keith and Melissa June 10th 2011

It was a perfect early summer evening which was awesome for Keith and Melissa since they had planned an outdoor ceremony, lakeside at The Mill in Spring Lake.  Everything went off perfectly and after their first kiss as a newly married couple, they got to walk down the aisle together to the song they had selected: “I Do” by Colbie Caillat.

After an awesome cocktail hour we brought the bridal party in with some high energy songs.  I’d worked closely with Keith and Melissa and knew they wanted introductions to be dramatic.  Parents came out to Guns n Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” the bridal party to Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and then Keith and Melissa to GnR’s “Welcome to the Jungle.”  Their family and friends cheered and applauded loudly and matched the energy of this music perfectly.

Keith and Melissa danced their first dance as husband and wife to Bon Jovi’s “Thank You For Loving Me.” Whenever I play that song I remember the time I saw Bon Jovi play at the old Tradewinds in Sea Bright (which is now townhouses) and he introduced that song by saying he and his wife Dorothea had seen the movie “Meet Joe Black” in which Brad Pitt’s character says “Thank you for loving me.”  He went home inspired by that line and wrote the song.  I thought about that as Melissa and Keith danced to their wedding song: a Brad Pitt line in a movie inspired Jon Bon Jovi to write a song and now here is this beautiful couple beginning their married life together dancing to it.  Weird how life works.

Melissa and Keith pulled out all the stops for their reception.  They included our plasma package, our up-lighting and our intelligent lighting.  These add-ons turn an already awesome celebration up to the “off the charts” level.  And this party certainly was.  Other than a break for dinner and then of course their cake cutting ceremony, The Mill’s dance floor was packed all night.  Right up until the closing song: The Black Eyed Peas “I’ve Had the Time of My Life.”

I’m always very pleased when I get positive feedback from my brides and grooms.  Whether they send me an email, write on Elite’s Facebook page, give me a Wedding Wire review, or even send me an old school hand written Thank You note.  So you can only imagine how great I felt when I received this in the mail:

Congratulations Melissa and Keith!
